11 5 18 2 5 18 – OUT NOW ON MUTE
AVAILABLE ON CLEAR DOUBLE VINYL FROM 30TH SEPTEMBER – PRE-ORDER HERE
RESCHEDULED TOUR DATES THROUGHOUT 2022 WITH SUPPORT FROM QUINQUIS
Yann Tiersen’s new album 11 5 18 2 5 18 is available on CD and digitally. A limited edition clear double vinyl is set to release on 30th September, coinciding with the rescheduled European tour that includes London’s Roundhouse on 8 September.
This new, unexpected release from Yann Tiersen was born from experimentation in the studio ahead of a performance at Berlin’s modular and synthesiser festival, Superbooth. With more time than usual to prepare for his live set, Tiersen found himself in his Eskal Studio on Ushant, completing the story he started with 2021’s Kerber – which presented a beautifully textured and highly immersive electronic world.
Using samples as his source, Tiersen has resampled, reprogrammed and recomposed audio to create entirely new tracks unrecognisable and decontextualised from their original versions.
Tiersen has shared two tracks – ‘16 15 21 12 12. 2 15 10 5 18’, where treated piano samples bend and drift through hypnotising pulsing electronics and ‘11 5 18 2 5 18’, which begins with sparse, textured electronics propelling the track forwards as elements from the original start to gradually open out and spiralling piano patterns give way to pulsating beats.
Video visuals created by Sam Wiehl
Where Kerber took a more nuanced and subtle approach to the electronics, 11 5 18 2 5 18 brings the listener into new sonic spaces and, as recent live performances can attest, these spaces include the dance floor.

“Provoked by Superbooth… Tiersen here inventively cannibalises 2021’s Kerber. This, in other words, is a synth set” – Classic Pop
