“engrossing sophomore album…”

NEW ALBUM, ARROWS, OUT JUNE 18th
Polly Scattergood’s trademark mix of storytelling and soul-searching weaves its web throughout Arrows available June 18th via Mute.
Recorded during time spent in Berlin and Norfolk, the album’s first single “Wanderlust” embraces the sonic youthfulness that is the heart of every Scattergood song.
The April 2nd release offers remixes by the effervescent How To Dress Well and the magnetic Charli XCX. Each guest on this EP embraced the affecting elements of this spinning, luring, lush soundscape, launching the track into new dimensions. Partnering up with Tom Krell – aka How To Dress Well – was not just by chance. Known for his heartbreaking honesty and sensual, tactile grooves, Krell poignantly supercharges “Wanderlust,” lending an adept sleekness that is confident while remaining true to the key feeling of the track. Produced by Ken Thomas (Sigur Ros, Dave Gahan, M83) and Jolyon Thomas, Arrows took two years to create. With Scattergood at the helm, each note and prickly sound was tweaked until it found its rightful place in the soundscape that has become her sophomore record.
Focused on creating a work that would pulse on it’s own and be equal parts inspiration, elation, rage, and cathartic release, Polly respected the science of crafting Arrows: “It’s easy to write a sad song, but harder to create something that makes people dance.”
If there’s euphoria in the music, there’s still elegy in the words. “Some of it is about love and loss. The key is moving on, pulling yourself together again.”

… Fire dies, love and laughter
Cheap thrills ever after
In the end we lost our heads
Forget every word I just said
Wanderlust
Wanderlust
Following my feet as I keep
Dancing down this endless street…
