Roundhouse – collaboration with Ashley Paul and Nik Colk Void.The Epic Of Everest score – out 21 Oct.

Simon Fisher Turner will perform at the Roundhouse as part of a weekend of events entitled The Pace Of Time (taking place 2 – 4 August 2013). The Pace Of Time: A Refutation on Friday 2 August is a collaboration with artists Ashley Paul and Nik Colk Void (Factory Floor, Carter Tutti Void). The evening features a score created by Ashley Paul that will be interpreted by each musician for an improvised evening of live music.

The performance follows a recent collaboration with Factory Floor, as part of their Artist Residency at the ICA and the worldwide premiere of Shiro Takatani’s Chroma, featuring music by Turner, at the Festival de Marseille.

With a career as varied and diverse as his current projects, Fisher Turner is reknowned for his film soundtrack work which began with Derek Jarman for whom he scored many films, from Caravaggio (1986), through to Jarman’s final work Blue (1993).

Simon Fisher Turner has just completed the score for the BFI National Archive’s restoration of The Epic of Everest dir. J.B.L. Noel (1924), the official film record of Mallory and Irving’s ill-fated 1924 Everest expedition.

The film will be released in cinemas on 18 October with the score released on Mute on 21 October 2013, talking about the project he said, “It’s a real privilege to be asked to work on such a stunning and historic film. The archaeology of sound and vision has become my greatest passion.”
