LFollowing the recent release of their critically lauded second studio album, Lost Under Heaven today share a raw and emotional new remix of “The Breath of Light” courtesy of electronic luminary Chris Liebing. Liebing’s simmering instrumentals set a heavy backdrop that allows Ellery James Roberts and Ebony Hoorn’s fervent vocals to shine through like beams of sunlight as a storm subsides. Listen to the remix now:
“The Breath of Light”is taken from Lost Under Heaven’s second studio album, Love Hates What You Become, which was released January 18 on Mute. Shot full of incisive social commentary, this record captures the couple at their most musically visceral. Stream and purchase the album here.
In reference to this fresh take on “The Breath of Light,” Roberts says, “We have been appreciative of Chris Liebing’s work for the past years so it is a real honour to hear his take on ‘The Breath of Light.’The song is an immensely personal reflection on a Near Death Experience: a young boy drowning in the wild waves of the Celtic Sea. The experience becomes a foundational metaphor to fearlessly face and overcome the hardships of downpression be they internal or external.”
Liebing – whose latest album, Burn Slow, was released by Mute on September 7, 2018 – reflected on the newest remix in his Burn Slow series by stating, “When I first heard the album Spiritual Songs For Lovers To Sing by Lost Under Heaven, I was blown away by it. When the news came that their new album was about to drop, I could not resist asking if I could have a go on a remix. I picked “Breath of Light” as I felt I could stay quite close to the amazing vibe of the original yet give it a “Burn Slow” style treatment. Thanks guys for letting me do that!”
