The band consisting of American Kacey Underwood and Brit Alice Costelloe are known for their magnetic presence onstage. FADER writes, “When an audience watches Big Deal, glasses make it only midway to mouths and conversations fall away to a hushed silence.” 2011 saw Big Deal on the NME Radar Tour with Anna Calvi in the UK, in addition to Group Love, Cloud Control, and a performance at Pulp’s Wireless Festival last summer.
Big Deal will bring songs from their debut album Lights Out (out NOW) with them when they come to the US. “It’s a conversation that all of us have had and are probably still occasionally having”, NPR notes in it’s All Songs Considered “Fall Music Preview”. Co-produced by Underwood and Dean Reid, the combination of sparse interweaving lo-fi guitars, emotive lyrics, and lack of percussion create a sound that is sweet, seductive, and alarming. Understated and discreet, it feels like a love note passed between classes.
