Unveils new remix of Venter by HTRK – taken from upcoming EP V A R I A N T – out 8/9 December.

Ben Frost has unveiled a new remix from the EP, V A R I A N T, and announced new tour dates in Russia, Brazil, and Australia.

V A R I A N T is released on limited edition vinyl and download on 8 December 2014, (U.S release dates – Download 9 December / Vinyl 13 January) and features remixes of tracks taken from his latest album A U R O R A.

VCMG, Terence Fixmer), Good by Air affiliated experimental artist Dutch E Germ (previous remix credits inc. Fatima Al Qadiri and Mas Ysa) and raster-noton recording artist Kangding Ray.

Frost’s North American tour continues this week and he returns to England in November for the first tour since the release of his acclaimed album, A U R O R A. Beginning on 10 November in Brighton, the tour includes a headline London show at St Johns in Hackney with support from legendary avant-garde minimalist composer Tony Conrad on 13 November.

A U R O R A, performed by Ben Frost with guests Greg Fox, Shahzad Ismaily and Thor Harris, was largely written in Eastern DR Congo where Frost was working with Richard Mosse and Trevor Tweeten on the Deutsche Börse prize winning installation, The Enclave.

Already a critics favourite, A U R O R A has been featured heavily in the ‘Albums of the Year So Far’ lists. It is described by The Wire as “Frost’s most fully realised work to date”, by Rolling Stone as having “garnered enough enthusiasm to snowball into the ambient event of the year” and by Resident Advisor as “the darkest and most powerful recording of his career”.

Following on from their Congolese collaboration, Frost, Mosse and Tweeten were recently invited by Time magazine to travel to a US aircraft carrier to document flight tests for the new unmanned X-47B drone. The film can be seen here: https://vimeo.com/105478034
